At DuTeau Subaru we love to be involved in the community. We have had the privilege of helping the following organizations
R.u.F.F. Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides pet adoptions across the United States, as long as the adopting family is willing to travel to Nebraska, or make arrangements with a pet airline, since we will not ship. We find homes for dogs from shelters, puppy mills, stray or abandoned dogs whose owners can no longer care for them.
R.u.F.F. Rescue was started by individuals with more than 50 years of combined rescue experience, who have a strong dedication and compassion for dogs, and that recognized a need in the Lincoln area. After being asked by many dog lovers to start a small dog rescue in Lincoln, Nebraska…we did! All of our volunteers have full-time careers with huge hearts willing to donate time to help dogs in need.
All of our rescue dogs are fostered in volunteer family homes. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome small dogs in the heartland, while providing education about dogs to the community.
Sadly, without our help, most of these adoptable dogs would face euthanasia. Many are victims of irresponsible pet owners who don't practice spay/neuter. Many served their owners well, but were dumped alongside the road or left at shelters when they were no longer wanted. Many more are dogs that have been injured, abused, and neglected. Whatever the reasons, these dogs all deserve better. Once in the loving foster homes with R.u.F.F. Rescue...their new journey begins!
Remember in late 2015 we had the "Share the Love" event, where Subaru donated $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased to the customer's choice of the following charities: ASPCA®, Make-A-Wish, Meals On Wheels Association of America®, the National Park Foundation, and our local charity, The Lincoln Children's Zoo??!!
Today we were very honored to present the Lincoln Children's Zoo with a check of $15,796!
Zoo president John Chapo and Emma, Johnny the African Serval..., Zookeeper were on hand to greet us, and what a greeting it was!
A Special THANK YOU to all of YOU who bought/leased a Subaru and made it possible for this wonderful donation.
Helping children who face seemingly insurmountable odds is the important work of CEDARS. Founded in 1947 by the Reverend Charles and Alberta Danner, CEDARS continues their vision today to create a place where children can "experience a real childhood and begin planning for the future."
That simple act of kindness more than 60 years ago has resulted in thousands of children building new family lives. The Danners' passion still lives on through our work today as we offer young people safe shelter - and the skills to adapt to a quickly changing world.
Today's reality is harsh, and the challenges disturbing. All homes today are not safe for every child. Poverty, drug use, mental illness, criminal activity, and neglect place children at extreme risk.
CEDARS continues to respond, giving hope to youth in need and direction to families struggling to stay together.
It is the mission of CEDARS to help children who have been abused, neglected, and homeless achieve safety, stability, and enduring family relationships.
In 1959, Arnott Folsom had a vision to create a family destination where thousands of children and adults could interact with nature. With a donation from himself and his wife as well as the help from community leaders, Lincoln Children's Zoo was founded. Opened in the summer of 1965, the Zoo became a place where children could get up-close to animals and surround themselves in scenic gardens.
Today, Arnott Folsom's vision has grown and in the process positively impacted generations of families in the community. Lincoln Children's Zoo is home to over 350 animals, more than 40 of which are endangered. Nearly 200,000 people attend the Zoo each year, making it the third most attended arts and science attraction in Nebraska.
